Ölüdeniz sunset — Soap Lady
Ölüdeniz, Turkey · Est. 2006

Painter. Teacher.
Mother. Soap Lady.

This is the story of a woman who built something extraordinary from a small market stall, a handful of soaps, and a heart she has never learned to do things halfway with.

Burcu — The Soap Lady
"The Soap Lady"
Meet Burcu

She Doesn't Sell Soap.
She Helps You Find
What Your Skin Needs.

Ask anyone who has ever walked into Burcu's shop and they'll tell you the same thing: "I didn't feel like a customer. I felt like a guest."

Strong, yet gentle. Fiercely generous. She listens before she ever recommends. She asks your age, your skin type, your concerns and only after all of that does she find you exactly the right thing. Not the most expensive. Not the easiest sell. The right one.

Her closest friends say it best: with Burcu, you can truly be yourself. That same energy, warmth, confidence, zero pretence, lives in every bar of soap she makes.

TEDx Talk

Her Story, In Her
Own Words

Burcu took the TEDx stage to share the journey that shaped her, the uncertainty, the belief that never wavered, the falls she got back up from, and what it truly means to build something from nothing over twenty years.

"I never gave up." Three words that explain everything about Soap Lady, about Burcu, and about every bar of soap she has ever made.

Burcu and Ayşe — The Origin Story
The Origin Story

The Name Was Given
to Her by Her Customers

It began on a small craft market stall in the summer tourist town of Ölüdeniz. No business name. No big plan. Just Ayşe, Burcu's mother, placing handmade soaps on a simple table with her own hands after retiring from a long career teaching.

Burcu joined her. And over time, people started calling her something. "The lady who sells soap." Then simply: the Soap Lady. The name stuck, it spread, and one day Burcu realised it had become her identity.

"That name was given to me by my customers," she says. "That is why it means so much to me — because it comes from a place of genuine connection."

Today, Soap Lady appears on every bar they make. Burcu's face is the brand motif. Not a logo. A promise.

Educator. Painter. Creator.

The Artistic Eye
Behind Everything

Burcu is not just a soap maker. She is an educator by training and a painter by passion — a woman whose creative eye runs through everything she touches, from the soaps she formulates to the 100-year-old stone cottage she restored during the pandemic, brick by original brick.

Her life has moved between Turkey and South Africa. Shaped by wild landscapes, deep friendships, and a refusal to do anything halfway. You see this in the soap. In the stays. In the way she wraps a bar and hands it to someone with a personal recommendation already in mind.

When Burcu makes a soap, she is not filling a shelf. She is making something with intention, the way any artist makes anything worth keeping.

The Family

We Are Burcu, Ayşe, Daisy,
and Aslan

The stays are named after her children. The brand was built with her mother. This has always been a family story — and it shows in everything Soap Lady is.

Ayşe and The Soap Lady family

Ayşe — The Backbone

She started it all. A retired schoolteacher who placed her first soaps on a market table and never looked back. Burcu says it plainly: "Without my mother, this story would not be complete." Ayşe's patience, strength, and love are woven into the foundation of everything Soap Lady is.

Daisy, Aslan, and The Soap Lady family

Daisy & Aslan — The Heart

Two of the glamping stays at Soap Lady Cottage are named after Burcu's children — Daisy Suite and Lion (Aslan) Suite. Every guest who stays in them is, in a quiet way, inside the story of this family. That is exactly how Burcu wants it.

"This brand is not just mine. It is our shared effort, our shared story. Twenty years of patience, love, and refusal to give up and every bar carries all of it."

The Philosophy

Not Just Cleansing.
A Skincare Ritual.

Most soaps are made to foam. Mediterranean soaps are made to nourish. The difference is in what you put in — and Burcu only puts in the best: pure olive oil, lavender, thyme, goat milk, chamomile, carrot, juniper. Each chosen for a reason. Each doing a real job on the skin.

When someone new comes to her and says "I don't know which one to choose," she doesn't hand them the most popular bar. She asks their age. Their skin type. Whether it is for their face, their hair, or a gift for someone they love. And then she finds them the right one.

"I sell soap," she says with a quiet smile. "Not hope."

But in twenty years of watching skin heal, confidence return, and customers come back year after year, she has quietly sold a great deal of both.
